Another Efuto

Decorated envelope gift, 1, designed by Anneline Sophia, 2013.
Decorated envelope gift, 2, designed by Anneline Sophia 2013.
Hi. Got another Efuto. The one above pictured is fresh, colorfoul and floral. Love it.
The sender was Anneline Sophia, another classmate from the great ABSPD course. By the way, Anneline also send a few words on the back a gorgeous Rachael Taylor's postcard. See it below.

I know of a few more Efutos that are on my way, and hope they come home pretty soon. If you love those decorated envelopes as I do, don't miss the directory I mentioned here, initiative of Gill Egglleston, or this post here,  from Jullie Hamilton, all lovely sweet ladies and surface pattern designers, old members (founders, may be?) of our amazing Facegroup, full of talented people with whom I am always learning a lot.

Have a nice week and thank you for stopping by.

On Efutos and Colours

Miranda Mol's Efuto and post card, photo by B. Lima, 2013.
Just got another gorgeous Efuto (decorated envelope) from my dear sweet friend Miranda Mol, all the way from Holland. In fact, my daughter was the receiver, as a gift for her birthday. I love the colours on this Efuto and on the great post card with Miranda’s own pattern on it. If you like it as much as I do, pay her a visit at her site.

I am adding the hashtag #coloringmehappy to those pictures above to take part in Jessica Swift's new series called "Coloringmehappy" (see more about the great artist Jessica Swift and this initiative of her here, please).

Talking about Efutos, I get the impression that we are spotting a trend there and that Gill Eggleston, from Pattern Addict, was a bit of a trend setter, by creating the suspiciously gorgeous The Little White Book of Surface Pattern Designers based on a general exchange of Efutos in our group of fellow designers. I am part of this book and I am a very proud participant of the real exchange of Efuto’s that has been going on. Recently I even spot Efuto’s making and exchanging in a lovely post over here.

Don't you feel in the mood of decorating your own envelopes? Grab whatever media you fancy and go ahead. It's delicious and addictive.

Thank you for stopping by.

Notecards on their way to...

Hi. Remember this giveaway post I did on the day this blog was making one year of existence and my daughter was turning 14? Well, today was the draw day.

Set of six cards and envelopes, patterns designed by Bethania Lima, copyright  2012/2013.

I read and cherished all the comments. They all meant a lot to me. It’s good to know that real people are out there reading and having a look at this little place on the blogsphere. I am very grateful  to all of you, very much indeed.

This giveaway prize is the set of 6 notecards shown in the photo above. They were marvelous printed by 4 by 6, in the US, and in fact I had them printed as a result of a Colourlover prize I won ages ago (see here for details).

I printed all the names of commenters from the previous mentioned blospot, had them cut and put on a hat. All documented by the funny pictures below (although charming, the fact that they are in black and white is totally unintentional, just reminding me that I do have to read the camera manual ...). I asked two helpers (the rabbit girl and the mouse girl, names and faces not allowed, because teenagers are very, well, teenagers) to take part in the process: cutting, folding and finally taking a name out of the hat.

And the winner is: Petra Kern. Her name coming out of the hat meant a big coincidence. She had a giveaway on her blog too, beginning two days before my initiative, and today she announced the winner of her giveaway. And my day began today by reading her blogpost and enjoying looking at her helpers and her process. Isn’t it funny? Petra has a marvelous site (here) and I love her work. Like myself, she’s also a surface pattern designer doing what she loves.

I had lots of fun doing this giveaway and  would like to thank each one of you for making blogging here such a great experience.

Thank you for stopping by.

Celebration

"Floral Celebration", copyright Bethania Lima, 2013.

Today is a very special day for me.

This little blog is completing its first year of existence.

Thank you to all my readers. And I always will be grateful to Jacqueline and Miranda, who were the first two people who encouraged me to start it in the first place (see this post to some feedback and this recent post, for an updated recognition of the people who have helped me along the way).

Lots of patterns later, here I am. Loving what I do and wishing to keep doing it. But also knowing how difficult it is. It’s part of the game I love to play, so let me not complain. And there’s still a long, long way to go.  And that is part of the game too. Again, let’s celebrate.

To celebrate this blog’s first year I am having a giveaway. The winner will receive a set of extremely well-printed notecards, with, guess what? Patterns I made, of course. It’s a set of 6 notecards. To take part in the giveaway, just make a comment on this post. I will use a random method and choose a winner in one week time. Nothing too fancy.  Simple and straight forward.

There is another reason to celebrate. Today is my lovely daughter’s birthday. She is 14 now. A beautiful, generous, gorgeous, sweet, adorable, clever, young lady. I will not go on. I simply adore her. And she is always encouraging me on this challenging career I embraced. So she’s also responsible for this blog’s anniversary. Happy birthday, coisa mais linda do mundo (“prettiest thing in the world”).

Thank you for stopping by and don’t forget to leave a comment to stand a chance of winning the set of note cards.
