Today is the day for a long due post. Why? Because after descovering her work I wanted to share it with everybody. I discovered the lovely work of Jaquelina Freitas almost by chance, while looking around in the internet (pattern observer feature). After changing emails with her it surprised me that such a good designer weren’t enough published. I insisted that she should be more bold in showing her work and a few days later, for my surprise, I was very happy to see that her work had been featured on the bible blog of SPD, the great  PrintandPattern (Print and Pattern feature).

Jaquelina is Portuguese and has a degree in textile  design. I love her style, its subtle colours and its friendly geometry. There’s also some touchs of humour in her work. And lots of professionalism. Jaquelina’s work is also very structural and reflected. Moreover, I completely identify with her words of wisdow, originally post at her tumblr account and at the pattenrobserver site (http://patternobserver.com/2012/02/10/textile-designer-jaquelina-freitas/):

“Most people spend a lifetime searching their calling. Bounce from job to job, but without knowing the reason, they never feel truly fulfilled. I spent a good part of my life in this situation. I genuinely believe that the passion for something drives us to do exceptional things and I take a positive and enthusiastic approach in all my work. Each project is engaged in with professionalism to allow my creativity and passion to be expressed. Most people spend a lifetime searching for their calling, I feel like I found mine. Because for me is not just a job, it’s a passion.”

Although her career is just beginning, she has already had some patterns published at two e-books from pattern people (e-books)

Hoje é o dia pra um post que devia há bastante tempo, sobre os trabalhos de Jaquelina Freitas. Desde que descobri, queria compartilhar o trabalho dela. A descoberta ocorreu quase por acaso, enquanto fuçava pela internet (pattern observer feature). Depois da troca de alguns emails, surpreendeu-me o fato de uma designer tão boa ainda não ser tão conhecida. Insisti que ela deveria expor mais seu trabalho e pra minha surpresa  logo depois vi que o trabalho dela havia aparecido no blog que é a bíblia de SPD, o grande PrintandPattern (Print and Pattern feature).

Jaquelina é portuguesa e graduou-se em design têxtil. Adoro seu estilo, o uso contido das cores e sua amigável geometria. Também é possível encontrar alguns toques de humor em seu trabalho, que é bem estruturado e reflexivo. Mais ainda, me identifico por completo com suas sábias palavras, que apareceram originalmente na sua conta do tumblr e no post do pattenrobserver site (http://patternobserver.com/2012/02/10/textile-designer-jaquelina-freitas/):

“Muitas pessoas passam a vida inteira procurando sua vocação. Ficam pulando de um trabalho pra outro, mas sem saber a razão, nunca se sentem realmente realizados. Passei uma boa parte da minha vida nessa situação. Realmente acredito que a paixão por algo nos conduz na diração de  coisas excepcionais e a minha postura frente a meu trabalho é muito positiva e entusiasta. Me dedico a cada projeto com profissionalismo, para permitir que minha criatividade e minha paixão se possam expressar.  Muitas pessoas passam a vida inteira procurando sua vocação. Sinto que encontrei a minha. Porque pra mim não é um trabalho, é uma paixão."

Embora sua carreira recém esteja começando, ela já teve padrões publicados em dois e-books do pattern people (e-books).
